I love weddings…
But seriously ya’ll, I love weddings -attending, pretending to plan my own, looking at pretty Pinterest boards, peeking at my fellow photographer and vendor’s work, etc. I have an addiction to gazing at pretty things, which some might call “shiny object syndrome”. So when I had the opportunity to shoot at Rooted Farmstead in Bellefonte, PA with Something Blue and White, I was ecstatic! Let’s face it, it is way more fun being involved in the wedding process live and in person than glancing at someone else’s hard work online. I have been wanting to shift into the wedding industry, and this Cotton & China themed styled shoot was just the call to action I was looking for.
What is a “Styled Shoot?”
You might be asking, “but what is a styled shoot?” A styled shoot is often born of the work and collaboration of multiple vendors like event planners, florists, calligraphers, bakeries, venues, and photographers. These professionals work together, often creating a mock wedding” to showcase each of their creative talents that can then be used to build their portfolios and share pretty content. There’s usually a theme or direction to set the tone of the shoot, for instance, in this shoot, it was inspired and styled with the “Cotton & China” theme in mind -with cotton details in the bouquet and florals, and intricate porcelain-like detailing on the cake and donuts to mirror the table setting. Being able to collaborate with other creatives and talented wedding professionals was such an honor and gave me such great inspiration to start on my rebranding journey.
The Couple
Ashley and John were the gorgeous couple that myself and the other photographers involved had the absolute pleasure of working with and posing for 5+ hours. Ashley and John aren’t just any models -they are a real couple getting ready to head down the altar themselves this coming spring! They are huge Penn State fans (#WeAre) which is super awesome, and were so wonderful and patient for letting a bunch of new people tell them to pose, where to stand, how to place their hands, where to look, when to kiss, and all the things. But seriously, I cannot say enough about these two, they are such a fantastic couple and cannot thank them enough for letting me photograph them!
The Gallery
So now that you’ve had a taste, I need you to go check out the gallery here. Seriously, do it. Get some pretty in your day. And then, if you’re like me, swoon a little, save it to your Pinterest board, and daydream about all the pretty details that are possible for your own wedding. I know that I have 10,000 and 1 ideas myself!
