Hey there! It has been a hot minute since I have blogged but I have been dying to share about my Garden Blooms inspired styled wedding shoot from last March! I can’t believe it’s been a year since this happened, but I think these shots will get you even more in the mood for this spring time weather!
Not sure what a styled shoot is? Read my blog post from last October’s Cotton and Porcelain shoot to learn more!
I had been dreaming of planning and hosting a styled shoot since I had attended the one hosted by Something Blue and White in October. I was hungry for something big and exciting to do, and had felt the spark of inspiration. But with the holidays and cold weather, I needed to wait for a more opportune time. I am a Pinterest fanatic and was on there daily looking at inspiration. What really excites me are bright colors, bohemian themes, and simple elegance. Keeping these key ideas in mind, my “garden bloom” inspiration “blossomed”. I focused on the creating an elegant shoot which highlighted many of my favorite local vendors.
It was such an immense pleasure to work with all of these amazing (and local!) vendors in creating the thing of my dreams. My small idea became a gorgeous reality because of everyone involved, and I could not be happier with the outcome!
How to Achieve an Elegant Bohemian Look for Your Wedding
I didn’t realize until I started planning this event, but I am HERE for all things bohemian. Honestly, I am still so inspired, I will probably incorporate many of the boho elements we had (and even some we didn’t) into my wedding. The elements I am about to describe are pieces that will give your wedding an equally chic, elegant, boho feel. In each section I am going to talk about the vendors and people who provided these elements and made this the most gorgeous wedding shoot possible. Without them, this wouldn’t have been possible! I would like to make a special thank you to Lindsay of Lindsay Eileen Photography who helped me to plan and implement this shoot.
Abundant Flowers + Flower Crowns
In order to achieve a “Garden Blooms” theme, you need plenty of garden blooms! Emily’s Pocketful of Posies provided us with an abundance of gorgeous arrangements. She created a gorgeous piece to fit on our specially designed hexagon arch (more on that in a bit). Emily also created a flowing, multi-level table centerpiece which paired perfectly with the full and blossoming bouquet she created. She even created the most beautiful flower crown for our bride to wear. My only request was tons of eucalyptus and large blossoms, and Emily went above and beyond what I had even thought was possible. Emily creates gorgeous works of art in her floral work. It was such an immense pleasure to have her as part of our team.
Geometric Shapes -Terrariums
In order to contrast the soft floral shapes, I wanted a strong lines and geometric shapes to create a bold contrast. One of the elements we incorporated to accomplish this was terrariums. Blue Spruce Events was able to provide us with an abundance of terrariums of varying shapes and various gold bolds to create dimension. We were able to decorate the aisle and tables. B Events and Best Event Rentals provided matching geometric table numbers, and soft lace linens to contrast the bold lines and complement the soft blooms.
Geometric Shapes -A Hexagon Arch
We wanted a bold statement arch for our big garden blooms and terrariums to hang from, and to create a chic and modern frame around our bride and groom. Blue Spruce Events custom built this arch for this shoot, and to be used with their clients. It was a stunning centerpiece for our shoot, and pulled all of floral and geometric elements together. It was so amazing to have this specially constructed and showcased in our wedding shoot. These bold arch shapes are gaining popularity all over wedding Pinterest and Instagram posts, and now you can have one to be a part of your special day as well.
Bright Calligraphy Invitation Suites
Lucy + Fay, a local boutique calligraphy studio provided us with a gorgeous hand designed and watercolor invitation suite, complete with menu and place cards. These special touches are so beautiful and elegant, that I incorporated them into my own wedding! The water color created a soft, and delicate touch and the perfect pop of color to fit with the garden blooms theme.
One of the most spectacular elements of this shoot was the incorporation of two beautiful horses! Mane Event (owned by J. Rose Bartending) brought the sweetest horses to be a part of the shoot. It was such a pleasure to have this unique experience with such beautiful and graceful animals!
Venue and Bar
I cannot finish this post without mentioning and thanking Rooted Farmstead and J. Rose Bartending for providing a gorgeous sun-soaked farm to hold the shoot at, as well as a full bar, complete with signature drinks! This was such a fun element and a great way to show off one of our favorite licensed bar vendors in the State College, PA area.
